Collin's Law, Ohio's new legislation which makes hazing a felony, went into effect this week. The law was named after 18-year-old Collin Wiant, a student at Ohio University who died in a hazing incident in 2018. "Some people have said that hazing is a longtime tradition and I think today, with all due respect, that tradition ends," Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner said. Gardner said he believes this legislation is the most comprehensive way to reduce or eliminate hazing in the state.
