While former President Jimmy Carter is “recovering comfortably” after hip surgery this week, he’s unlikely to let a recent fall slow him down. “I stayed busy every year and I intend to stay busy as long as I’m physically and mentally able,” Carter told PEOPLE just after his 90th birthday, in 2014. “I feel a lot younger … I feel maybe 60, 70.” Now 94 years old, Carter is the oldest living American president — and an active outdoorsman, teacher, traveler and volunteer.
